Forbes, the American business magazine every year publishes the list of world’s wealthiest man. In this list the ranking of each individual is based  on their total net worth estimated and cited in US dollars. So here is the list of world’s richest people of this year…

 

1.Elon Musk:

Elon Musk has a total net worth of $200 billion and he’s the co-founder of Tesla Inc. He became the world’s richest man when he surpassed Jeff Bezos.

This man wants to revolutionize the world through his unique system of transportation as he introduced electric car maker Tesla and rocket  producer SpaceX. The rocket producer SpaceX values about $100 billion. Tesla the electric automaker has capitalized the world’s auto market  and has a net worth of $342 billion. Tesla has ranked this 49 years old man from 35 to 2nd in a very short period of 10months which is a considered as a remarkable achievement. Now a days the market value of Tesla has crossed $500 billion. 

2. Jeff Bezos

Jeff Bezos is the founder and the owner of Amazon. The net worth of Jeff Bezos is about $187 billion which makes him the 2nd richest person of  the world. His position as the 2nd richest man of the world remain the same even after divorcing his wife  Mackenzie in 2019 as he transferred 4 percent of the stake of Amazon to her wife.

According to SEC filing of November, 2020, Jeff Bezos owns about 11 percent of the Amazon and he holds 16 percent shares of the world’s biggest online retailer. Bezos founded Amazon in 1994 and the business has reached its peak during the last few months of the pandemic when people used to shop online because of the corona virus lockdown situation.

Amazon is one of the few companies whose valuations have crossed $1 trillion. Google, Microsoft and Apple are also included in those companies.

3. Bill Gates 

The co founder of Microsoft Corp with a total net worth of $131 billion.Bill Gates held the no.1 spot for many years and he was bumped by Jeff Bezos in 2017 and reached at 2nd spot. This year he has slipped two 3rd spot and it has happened twice this  year that he is ranked lower than no.2. Bill Gates founded the giant Microsoft with Paul Allen.

He retained only 1% of the stakes and invested the rest in stocks and other assets. He is the owner of world’s largest private charitable foundation “The Bill & Melinda Gates foundation”.

4. Bernard Arnault

The 4th wealthiest man on the planet with a total net worth of $110 billion. He is regarded as the French luxury tycoon because his business empire comprises of more than 70 brands like Louis Vuitton and Sephora etc.

Bernard Arnault is the richest man of Europe and he entered the $100 billion club last year in December. His business reached the peak during the  initial period of the pandemic.

5. Mark Zuckerberg

In the list of Bloomberg billionaires Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest centibillionaire (people whose wealth increase $100 billion). He has a total  net worth of $105 billion and ranked at the fifth position. Mark Zuckerberg is the co founder of a very famous  application called Facebook.

For two consecutive years, Jeff Bezos remained the only centibillionaire in the world but now there are five other  centibillionaires which are Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Bernard Arnault and Mark Zuckerberg. He has shares in mostly used applications included Instagram, Tik Tok, WhatsApp etc.

6. Warren Buffet

Warren Buffett is the the chairman of Berkshire Hathaway and he is ranked at no.6 in the list of richest persons with a total net worth of $85.2 billion. He is the only person in the list whose net worth dropped by $4.09 billion. This was a major set back to Berkshire’s wide range of investments and the company had to sell its entire  stocks in major US airlines.

Warren Buffett is regarded as the most successful investor of all times and known as Orlace of Omaha.  Berkshire Hathaway owns about 60 companies which includes Duracell, Geico insurance. Warren buffet bought his first stock when he was only 11 years old.

7. Larry Page

In the Bloomberg billionaires index Larry Page got the seventh position with a total net worth of $81.4 billion. He is the co founder of the world’s largest search engine operator, Google.

Page stepped  down as the CEO of Alphabet lnc (the holding  company for Google) but he remained the member of board and acted as a controlling shareholder. He also has his stakes in many other companies.

8. Larry Ellison

He’s the 8th wealthiest man in the list of richest people in the world and has a total net worth of $79.7 billion. Larry is the chairman and co founder of a software giant Oracle.

He also owns his stakes in very famous companies like Tesla, Redwood city, Real estate, the Indian  Wells tennis event, Hawaii’s Lanai Island etc. He  also remained as a board member for Tesla.

9. Steve Ballmer

Steve Ballmer was the former CEO of the Microsoft. He was an employee of Bill Gates but in the year 2000 he became the CEO of Microsoft and lead the company towards sustainability and development.

He became the 9th richest person on the Earth with a total net worth of $79.1 billion. Ballmer owns Los Angeles Clippers Basketball team which he bought for approximately $2 billion. He has invested $60 billion in software making companies.

10. Sergey Brin

Sergey Brin is the 10th wealthiest man on the planet with a total net worth of $78.8 billion. In 1998 he co-founded Alphabet with Larry Page.

In December 2019, he stepped down as a president  of Alphabet and continued to be a board member and controller shareholder.
